What are cookies and what are they used for?

Cookies are files or archives that are downloaded to the user’s computer/Smartphone/Tablet when the user accesses certain web pages.
Cookies make it possible to store certain data about the user’s device or about the user’s browsing. These data may be updated and recovered by the party responsible for their installation for different purposes, such as, for example, obtaining information on the browsing habits of the user or their equipment, seeing which pages have been visited, the connection time, the city to which the IP address from which the user accesses the website is assigned, the number of new users, the frequency and recurrence of visits, the time of visit, the browser or the operator or type of terminal from which the visit is made, analysing the functioning of a page, detecting technical problems, etc. Likewise, depending on the information they contain and the way in which the terminal is used, they can be used to recognise the User.
